What happens during adolescent care appointments?

When your child arrives at Guardian Angels Health Center for their appointment, friendly staff members greet them and may complete the following:

Vital signs check

During a vital signs check, your child’s provider weighs them and evaluates their height, growth, pulse, blood pressure, temperature, or other vital signs.

Medical history review

Your provider also reviews your child’s medical history. This includes their personal and family history of disease, medication regimen, symptoms, and lifestyle habits. They also ask questions about your child’s mental health.

Physical exam

During a physical exam, your child’s provider evaluates their eyes, throat, ears, neck, abdomen, reflexes, breathing, and heartbeat to look for signs of illnesses, injuries, and diseases.

Diagnostics

Guardian Angels Health Center provides on-site diagnostic tests if your child needs them. The skilled providers offer nasal or throat swabs, urine testing, blood tests, heart-function tests, allergy and asthma testing, sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, and other diagnostic tests.

Treatment

If your child needs treatment, their Guardian Angels Health Center provider tailors a treatment plan just for them. Your child may need home remedies, medication prescriptions, an inhaler, physical therapy, counseling, or care from a specialist. 

How often should I schedule adolescent care visits?

Schedule adolescent care at Guardian Angels Health Center for your child at least once yearly. Children may need more frequent visits if they’re due for a school or sports physical or have an ongoing illness.
